Michael Forsberg FUNK WPA Gallery

The Michael Forsberg Funk WPA Gallery celebrates the natural beauty, wildlife, and conservation heritage that make south-central Nebraska such a special place. Located inside the historic Funk School Community Center, the gallery takes its name partly from the nearby Waterfowl Production Area (WPA) and in celebration of renowned wildlife photographer Michael Forsberg, who headlined our Crepes & Cranes event in 2025.

The WPA is vital wetland habitat that provides refuge for countless migratory birds, including the iconic sandhill and endangered whooping cranes that pass through the region each year. The gallery showcases information about the WPA and this important habitat, stunning images from Forsberg that capture the the breathtaking spectacle of migration on the Great Plains, and rotating artwork from local and regional artists.

As part of the Funk School Community Center’s ongoing revitalization, the Forsberg Gallery brings together art, education, and conservation awareness in one inspiring space. Whether you’re a bird enthusiast, nature lover, or simply curious about the incredible beauty of Nebraska’s wetlands, the gallery offers a meaningful and memorable experience rooted in the heart of the Plains.
